Coordinator Comments Spring 2009
The Inland Mendocino Cooperative Weed Management Area is the younger of the two WMAs in Mendocino County, but this organization has gotten off to a rapid start, thanks to the example set by the Coast WMA. The Inland WMA has already been successful in obtaining grant funding from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation and from CDFA, and has initiated on-the-ground work on red sesbania, broom and distaff thistle, in addition to some extensive prevention, education and outreach efforts.
If you are currently an IMCWMA Partner, please give yourself a pat on
the back. If you are not already an IMCWMA Partner, please consider:
Would you like to be a part of this effort? All that is required is the
signature of an authorized individual from your organization to our Memorandum of Agreement. No financial obligation is involved.
Benefits include the opportunity to participate in the decision
regarding the projects submitted to compete for the WMA Supplemental
Funding from CDFA (up to $50,000 per year per county), as well as
setting priorities for expending our Baseline Funding (guaranteed
$16,000+ per year per county.) Please contact our Coordinator, Tara
Athan at coord at imcwma.org or call 485-1198 for more details.
