Red Sesbania Eradication Project

The Mendocino County Department of Agriculture and the IMCWMA have received funding from the State of California to eradicate red sesbania (Sesbania punicea) in Mendocino County. Please contact the IMCWMA at 485-1198 or email This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it for more information.

In July of 2007, a small patch of sesbania was removed from the Caltrans drainage ditch alongside Highway 175 in Hopland. This is the only known population of naturalized Sesbania punicia in Mendocino County.

In August of 2007, a kayak-based survey was conducted of the Russian River from the Highway 175 bridge south to Kaminsky Station. No sesbania was observed.
