Summary

This module presents an introduction to the identification of plants for vegetation management, with a focus on plants in wildlands. It is appropriate for property owners and managers interested in identifying plants on either rural or urban properties. No botanical expertise is assumed. It is recommended but not required that you work through the previous module:

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module, a student should be able to:
  1. be familiar with the types of names that plants can have;
  2. understand the benefits of knowing the names of plant families and species;
  3. be aware of a variety of references and the circumstances for which they are useful;

Recommended Materials and Equipment

The course may be presented with or without computers. The materials marked with a * are recommended for a computer-based presentation.
  1. * Personal computer, access to computer laboratory or computers in classroom with internet access;
