Invasive Weed Management

Summary

This module presents an introduction to invasive weed management for rural property owners and managers.

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module, a student should be able to:

define integrated weed management, illustrating with examples from the student's experience;
recognise and name common invasive weeds of Mendocino County;
state the pathways of weed introduction and dispersal, and describe strategies to prevent it;
state in order the priorities in the recommended strategy for allocation of weed management resources;
state the categories of invasive weed treatments considered in integrated weed management, and identify sources for information about effective treatments for particular species;
describe the adaptive management cycle;
state the steps in the development of a long-term vegetation management plan, and identify sources of information for long-term planning.
